Aftercare

Untitled_Artwork 2_edited.png

Piercing creates a deep wound that needs time to heal. How quickly this wound heals depends on the location of the piercing, the type of metal, the skill of the piercer and the quality of the aftercare.

If you take good care of the piercing, it will take 4 to 12 weeks for the wound to heal. Wash the piercing (with the exception of a tongue, lip or mouth piercing) twice a day during healing with a mild unscented soap. At WildRosePiercing you will receive an aftercare package containing Unicura soap.

Then pat it dry with a clean towel or tissue.

Keep the piercing as dry as possible for the rest of the day.

Tip: when cleaning your piercing you can use a cotton swab , with which you can easily clean the skin around the piercing.

During the healing process, keep the following in mind:

•  Touch the piercing as little as possible. (Don't twist or wiggle!)

• Do not apply ointment or eg Sterilon to the piercing. (unless otherwise advised)

• Make sure that no gel or other products come near the piercing.

• Do not wear plasters over the piercing. (only temporarily during exercise)

• Do not wear tight or dirty clothing over the piercing.

• Avoid (bubble) baths, swimming pools, saunas and steam baths.

• Never remove the piercing yourself.

Also pay attention to the following with an oral piercing:

•  Avoid kissing and oral sex during the healing process. (rinse well afterwards!)

• Brush your teeth regularly and maintain good oral hygiene.

• Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after eating/drinking/smoking.

• Dilute 1 capful of mouthwash in 75cl of water for rinsing.

• Try not to play with your piercing!

Also pay attention to the following with a genital piercing:

• Drink a glass of water about one hour before cleaning your genital piercing. This way you can pee out soap residue faster after washing. Soap in the urethra can cause a bladder infection.

• Always protect genital piercings during sexual contact with an extra firm condom (eg a condom for anal sex) or a bum cloth. Preferably do not have sexual contact during the healing process. Clean your piercing after sex.

Please note: the skin around your piercing can become red and swollen immediately after piercing. This is normal. Your piercing is therefore set with a larger bar or ring so that it does not pinch. If you feel the jewelry is too tight, please contact the shop.

Contact WildRosePiercing or your GP if:

• you are concerned about the healing.

• you get sick or develop a fever within a few days of getting the piercing.

• physical complaints such as pain, throbbing and burning do not decrease after piercing.

• 24 hours after brewing you suddenly get new complaints, or the complaints worsen.

• you want to remove the piercing during the healing process. (e.g. due to complaints or outgrowth or rejection symptoms)

Aftercare tips:

• Change your pillowcase or duvet to get a clean start.

• Always rinse extra well so that all soap residue is gone.

• If in doubt or if you have any questions, please contact WildRosePiercing.

• Do not self- medicate  with remedies, etc.

• Do not wear earplugs for a while with ear piercings or clean them extra.

• Glasses wearers, brush the temples of your glasses when changing the piercing.
